What is white-background product photography?
White-background product photography (a packshot) is a shot of a product on a pure white background with nothing to distract from it. The customer sees the exact shape, colour and material, so they know what they are buying. Packshots are the standard for online shops, catalogues and marketplaces such as Alza, Mall or Amazon, and they are easy to keep consistent across your whole range.
Where white-background photos are used
- Product pages in your online shop. Shoptet, WooCommerce, Upgates or a custom solution. A uniform background keeps the catalogue visually tidy.
- Marketplaces and comparison sites. Alza, Mall, Amazon or Heureka have rules for the main photo, usually a pure white background with the product filling most of the frame.
- Printed catalogues and leaflets. The product is easy to cut out and place on any background.
- Search ads. Google and Seznam shopping ads look more trustworthy with a clean photo.

How do you photograph glass, metal and glossy surfaces?
Glossy and transparent products reflect everything around them, so I light them with large diffused surfaces and adjust the position of the lights to the shape of the packaging. I keep the reflections that define the shape and remove distracting ones in post-production. Glass then looks clean and metal doesn't look grey.

Frequently asked questions about packshots
All questionsHow many photos do I need per product?
For an online shop I recommend 3–5 shots: a main front photo, a side or back view, a detail of the material or label and possibly the package contents. More angles give the customer confidence and reduce returns.
Will the photos meet the requirements of Alza, Mall or Amazon?
Yes, I'll prepare white-background photos according to the rules of the specific marketplace, for example a pure white background and the product filling most of the frame. Mention in your enquiry where you'll be selling.
What format and resolution will the photos be in?
As standard I deliver JPG for the web and, on request, PNG with a transparent background. I'll prepare the size and aspect ratio to your brief. One format is included in the price; each additional crop costs CZK 50 per photo. I send the photos via a download link.
How do I get the products to you?
Send them to me by courier. You'll receive the address with the order confirmation. After the shoot I'll send them back; we'll agree on the shipping method.
